Student Receives RN Degree

Columbia Basin Graduate Crenna Randolph - This photo provided by courtesy of Job Corps center operators under contract to the US Department of Labor.
Ms. Crenna Randolph completed her Certified Nursing Training (CNA) at Columbia Basin Job Corps in 1999. She worked for a few years as a Certified Nursing Aid while raising four children, all under school age. She then returned to Columbia Basin Job Corps for the Pharmacy Technician Trade, successfully completing in December of 2003. We encouraged her to attend Big Bend Community College for the Nursing Program. While attending college, Crenna worked for Columbia Basin Job Corps as an assistant for the Certified Nursing Aid Trade, instructing students with their clinical skills. Crenna received her Licensed Practical Nursing license and then continued on to the Registered Nursing Program at Big Bend Community College and graduated June 2, 2007. This young woman worked very hard so that her children could have a good life. She refused to accept any state assistance and did it all on her own. There were many times she doubted herself and would place phone calls to us stating she was going to drop from the nursing program. We kept encouraging her, shared our stories of the same feelings we all felt during nursing school. We told her that we were refusing to let her quit. She had come so very, very far and could not give up now. It was a very proud moment for us to watch this young lady graduate as a Registered Nurse. She already has a job at a local hospital and will be an asset to the Nursing Profession.
