Academics
In addition to career training, Columbia Basin Job Corps also provides academic training, including basic reading and math. Courses in independent living, employability skills, and social skills are offered in order to help students transition into the workplace. We also have several academic programs to help our students achieve their full potential.
GED Program
One of our top goals at Columbia Basin Job Corps is to ensure that every qualified student obtains his or her GED/high school diploma prior to leaving the center. Students who don't already have a high school diploma upon their arrival at Columbia Basin can enroll into our GED program. Students in the GED program are taught by center staff. Since January 2004, over 200 GEDs have been awarded to students.
Columbia Basin Alliance High School
Our students have the opportunity to earn their high school diplomas through Columbia Basin Alliance High School, a cooperative effort of our center and the Wellpinit School District. Since June 2003, we have issued over 200 high school diplomas to students.
College Program
The College Program is an advanced training program. To qualify for this program, a student must have a high school diploma or GED (from our center or an other educational facility) and have successfully completed a vocational trade at Job Corps. A limited number of students are accepted into the college program each year. Once they have met all the eligibility requirements, students can enroll at Big Bend Community College to earn an associate's degree.
